(CALENDULA OFFICINALIS)
Calendula
This radiant bloom is pure sunshine. It can be easily spotted in sunny fields and gardens by its abundant display of yellow and orange flowers. Calendula is commonly grown worldwide, though it is native to Southern Europe and Western Asia. Known for its skin-soothing properties, both inside and out, this botanical beauty has been used for centuries in skincare and herbalism and is adored by gardeners, herbalists, and estheticians alike.
Calendula is not only a topical solution; it works harmoniously with our body's largest organ, the lymphatic system. A well-supported lymphatic system promotes a clear complexion and easily eliminates environmental buildup. This bodily waterway also transports fat-soluble nutrients like vitamins A, D, E, and F and all of our essential fatty acids, which are necessary for maintaining good health.
This powerful plant is commonly used to soothe redness, dryness, and puffiness. Its gentle yet effective nature makes it an ideal ingredient for all skin types, including sensitive skin. At Botnia, we infuse calendula flower extract, harvested at peak potency, into our botanical toners, cleansers, and masks for everyday skin nourishment and restoration. We also infuse whole calendula flowers into our face oils and extract calendula’s beneficial constituents through distilling hydrosols.
By using all of these different forms of calendula, we can create a truly holistic skincare experience that nourishes and revives the skin. Our estheticians often turn to calendula when working with skin that's easily irritated or sun-worshiper’s skin that has endured prolonged damage from the outdoors.
Our calendula flowers are grown on the Botnia Micro-Farm in Sausalito, California, and by our trusted farming partners like GEM, Tookey Farms, and Oshala. We support regenerative, organic, and equitable farming practices in efforts to leave a positive impact on our communities and the planet.
