This bright and bold yellow flower is a symbol of strength and resilience. While it thrives in the mountainous soils of Northern California, the Mountain West, and Europe, it also grows abundantly on our micro-farm. This skin- and tissue-loving botanical is beloved by herbalists, estheticians, and competitive athletes alike.
Arnica is very nutrient-dense and hosts many beneficial chemical compounds, including sesquiterpene lactones and their short-chain carbonic acid esters, flavonoids, carotenoids, essential oils, diterpenes, arnidiol, pyrrolizidine alkaloids, coumarins, phenolic acids, lignans, and oligosaccharides. These compounds work together primarily to aid in minor wound repair and skin recovery.
Arnica is most commonly used in topical preparations, such as salves, creams, and ointments, for recovery from minor bumps, bruises, and post-workout muscle soreness. In skincare, it's used as an ally for easing stressed skin and occasional outbreaks. We use arnica in our formulations when we spot environmental stress, redness, dry spots, and other everyday irritations. We infuse arnica flowers, harvested and extracted at peak potency, into our botanical toners, cleansers, and masks for everyday restoration.
Our arnica flowers are grown in small amounts on the Botnia Micro-Farm in Sausalito, California, and the rest by our farming partners in the Mountain West. We support regenerative, organic, and equitable farming practices in an effort to leave a positive impact on our communities and the planet.
