Literal skin food: Meet our culinary hydrosols
Did you save room? Because this is a feast for the senses you won’t want to miss. We’re launching the second drop of our super limited hydrosols in never-before-released plant ingredients.
Meet: Tomato Hydrosol, Ponderosa Hydrosol and Clary Sage Hydrosol
These culinary single-note floral mists were created as a quiet experiment, and we loved them so much, we’re releasing them to you! Curious to know the aromatics of Tomato hydrosol and more? Here’s the skin benefits, and scent profiles for our Culinary Hydrosol drop.
Distilled from heirloom tomato leaves grown on our micro-farm. These leaves were harvested in the beginning of fall when the leaves were still vibrant and pungent and smells of herbaceous vegetal aromatic. It’s a scent that’s both familiar and unexpected; a vegetable garden in a bottle. Incredibly unique and unlike nothing we’ve ever distilled before. If you’re a tomato lover, you’ll absolutely love this hydrosol. Tomato leaves have skin brightening properties and are great for wise skin types.
Who it’s good for: Wise skin types
Ponderosa Hydrosol
There’s just something magical about the trees in New Mexico. The Ponderosa bark of this hydrosol was harvested by my father-in-law in the wildland of the Pecos where we harvest our pinon and juniper. This hydrosol is unique because of its aromatics of vanilla which adds to our culinary hydrosols with its soft, creamy, sweet scent. It’s comforting, and subtly decadent.
Ethically harvested from a tree hit by lightning, ponderosa bark looks like puzzle pieces that cover the tree and protect it from its harsh arid environment. What we love so much about this hydrosol is that it’s fortifying and strengthening for compromised barriers, especially for those who can’t tolerate pinenes like juniper or pinon. It’s a gentler application that’s great for most skin types. Because we don’t ever harvest bark from living trees, it makes this hydrosol very special indeed.
Who it’s for: Dry, sensitive, to normal skin
Clary Sage Hydrosol
A plant two years in the making, Clary Sage flowers only blossom after its second year in the garden and are short-lived biennials that die after it flowers. It’s known for soothing sensitive skin and calming inflammation. High percentages of the terpenes linalyl acetate and linalool (also found in high concentrations in lavender) which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it great for those who have inflammatory skin responses and reactions. The terpenes combined have also been found to have calming, stress relieving effects.
The aroma is a subtle herbaceous floral with an uplifting sweet light fruity notes.
*Contraindicated for pregnancy because it also has the potential for causing uterine contraction. Sorry, mamas!
Who it’s for: Inflamed, stressed, reactive, sensitive skin
