(LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA)

Lavender

This aromatic herb soothes the senses. Lavender is a mighty violet bloom native to the Mediterranean region that’s been traditionally used for thousands of years. Its name derives from the Latin word “lavare,” which means to wash. Ancient Greeks and Romans used this plant in bathwater, perfumes, cosmetics, and for other therapeutic purposes. It’s now grown and used worldwide to soothe inside and out.

This fresh and fragrant beauty is an instant spirit lifter. It’s rich in essential oils, and its two main constituents – linalool and linalyl acetate – work together to soothe the nervous system and support relaxation. It’s known as a nervine in herbalism and is commonly used in teas, syrups, shrubs, and topical treatments. Because of its unique and fresh floral scent, it’s also commonly used in cosmetics, aromatherapy, and perfumery.

Not only is lavender relaxing, but it's also able to ease irritation and protect against foreign invaders. Our estheticians turn to lavender when the skin is irritated, rough, stressed out, and needs some extra toning. It’s also a great way to instantly shift frazzled nerves with one big breath of its calming aroma. We formulate our skin-balancing everyday cleansers and oils with lavender.

Our lavender flowers are grown at the Botnia Micro-Farm in Sausalito, California, and by our trusted farming partners like Sophie's Five Acres Farm in Healdsburg. We support regenerative, organic, and equitable farming practices in efforts to leave a positive impact on our communities and planet.
